# Zoho Mail

Access the Zoho Mail API with managed OAuth authentication. Send, receive, search, and manage emails with full folder and label management.

Maton proxies requests to `mail.zoho.com` and automatically injects your OAuth token.

## Authentication

All requests require the Maton API key in the Authorization header:

Open the returned `url` in a browser to complete OAuth authorization.

### Specifying Connection

If you have multiple Zoho Mail connections, specify which one to use with the `Maton-Connection` header:

If you have multiple connections, always include this header to ensure requests go to the intended account.

## Security & Permissions

- Access is scoped to emails, folders, accounts, and organization settings within the connected Zoho Mail account.
- **All write operations require explicit user approval.** Before executing any create, update, or delete call, confirm the target resource and intended effect with the user.

**Mode Options:**
- `markAsRead` - Mark messages as read
- `markAsUnread` - Mark messages as unread
- `moveMessage` - Move messages (requires `destfolderId`)
- `setFlag` - Set flag (requires `flagid`)
- `applyLabel` - Apply labels (requires `labelId`)
- `archive` - Archive messages
- `unArchive` - Unarchive messages
- `spam` - Mark as spam
- `notSpam` - Mark as not spam

Flag messages with a color/status indicator.

| `info` | Info flag (blue) |
| `important` | Important flag (red) |

**Optional Parameters:**
- `threadId` - Array of thread IDs (alternative to messageId)
- `isFolderSpecific` - Set to `true` if using `folderId`
- `folderId` - Folder ID (required if `isFolderSpecific` is true)
- `isArchive` - Set to `true` to include archived emails

Apply one or more labels to messages or threads.

**Required Parameters:**
- `mode` - Must be `"applyLabel"`

**Optional Parameters:**
- `isFolderSpecific` - Set to `true` if using `folderId`
- `folderId` - Folder ID (required if `isFolderSpecific` is true)
- `isArchive` - Set to `true` to include archived emails

**Example - Apply Labels:**

## Pagination

Zoho Mail uses offset-based pagination:

```

- `start`: Offset index (default: 0)
- `limit`: Number of records to return (default: 50)

For subsequent pages, increment `start` by `limit`:
- Page 1: `start=0&limit=50`
- Page 2: `start=50&limit=50`
- Page 3: `start=100&limit=50`

## Notes

- Account IDs are required for most operations - first call `/api/accounts` to get your account ID
- Message IDs and Folder IDs are numeric strings
- The `fromAddress` must be associated with the authenticated account
- Default folders include: Inbox, Drafts, Templates, Snoozed, Sent, Spam, Trash, Outbox
- Supported encodings: Big5, EUC-JP, EUC-KR, GB2312, ISO-2022-JP, ISO-8859-1, KOI8-R, Shift_JIS, US-ASCII, UTF-8, WINDOWS-1251
- Some operations (labels, folder management, sending) require additional OAuth scopes. If you receive an `INVALID_OAUTHSCOPE` error, contact Maton support at support@maton.ai with the specific operations/APIs you need and your use-case
- IMPORTANT: When using curl commands, use `curl -g` when URLs contain brackets to disable glob parsing
- IMPORTANT: When piping curl output to `jq` or other commands, environment variables like `$MATON_API_KEY` may not expand correctly in some shell environments

## Error Handling

| Status | Meaning |
|--------|---------|
| 400 | Missing Zoho Mail connection or invalid request |
| 401 | Invalid or missing Maton API key |
| 429 | Rate limited |
| 4xx/5xx | Passthrough error from Zoho Mail API |

### Troubleshooting: API Key Issues

1. Check that the `MATON_API_KEY` environment variable is set:

2. Verify the API key is valid by listing connections:

### Troubleshooting: Invalid App Name

1. Ensure your URL path starts with `zoho-mail`. For example:

- Correct: `https://api.maton.ai/zoho-mail/api/accounts`
- Incorrect: `https://api.maton.ai/api/accounts`
